Joel Straus Consulting (JSC) (www.jsartconsulting.com) is a small art consulting firm that specializes in curating high profile, large-scale public art projects, appraising fine art, public art master planning, and collection management. JSC projects include: Potomac Yard at National Gateway, Arlington, Virginia; The Blackstone Hotel, Chicago, Illinois; Washington Convention Center’s Art Collection, Washington, DC; McCormick Place Art Collection South, Chicago, Illinois; and Dow Centennial Garden, Midland, Michigan. JSC also administers the conservation of client collections and archives.
JSC is in the process of expanding its activities. This year, we formed a new 501-c3 arts organization, 4D Arts (www.4darts.org), dedicated to temporary public art projects. Joel Straus is also director of VIP Services and Special Programs for the new expositionChicago art fair, to debut in 2012.
JSC seeks an individual with strong arts administration skills to provide part-time marketing, research, archiving, and general office support. The assistant will also work on projects related to 4D Arts and may be asked to assist on tasks related to expositionChicago. 24 hours per week/hourly wage.

Responsibilities include:
- Researching prospective projects
- Assembling and sending marketing materials to prospective clients
- Assisting in curatorial responsibilities: research artists, coordinate studio visits, brainstorm curatorial proposals
- Maintenance of marketing materials, portfolio, and web site
- Generating responses to Request for Proposals (RFP)
- Researching potential project artists
- Administering Call to Artists
- Managing Clients’ collection archives
- Supporting principal with invoicing and expenses
- Appraisal research
