After School ART teacher

If you love children and love art this is the perfect part-time position for you. Our after school DRAWING program is in need of part-time teachers (1-3 days per week) to work in the far Northwest suburbs including Streamwood, Elgin, South Elgin, Dundee, Gilberts, and neighboring towns. We use only dry media, no paints, glue, glitter. YOU MUST LIVE NEARBY, usually within a 10 minute drive. Chicagoans SHOULD NOT APPLY for this job.
Young Rembrandts offers drawing classes for children in grades K-5. Classes are scheduled at elementary schools as well as various park districts and are 1 hour in length. We are looking for mature, responsible people to teach our childrens' drawing classes. You don't need to be a certified teacher and no degree is required - just a love of childern and college art classes or a demonstrated portfolio. You must be available between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM to teach these after school classes. You must be available 2 or more afternoons per week, have reliable transportation and enjoy and have some experience working with children. We provide the training, lesson plans, supplies and locations. This is a fun, VERY LIGHT part-time position and works well for people who live in the area.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Works with marketing, product management, and design to create and execute graphics and packaging projects from beginning to end following timelines and ensuring deadlines are met
- Develops packaging that has structural integrity, that communicates product’s benefits while, reinforcing the company’s brand identity to increase product’s sell-through at retail.
- Be able to develop structurally sound package solutions utilizing various mediums including chipboard, sulfite board, corrugated, clam shells, blister packs, acetate and other materials.
- Knowledge of package manufacturing processes and capable of generating detailed packaging specs. Must have experience re-thinking package designs with new, innovative visions.
- Prepare images for the Product Management, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service teams (clean surfaces, color correct, remove duplicates, name files, create clipping paths).
- Prop and direct product photography to visually communicate the product’s best features
- Design, review and maintain typography, layout, color, copy, and images for Company support materials.
- Researches and identifies packaging trends and materials.
- Create planograms for merchandising
- Design and engineer visual merchandising tools, including posters, graphic panels, and POP displays
- Proficiency in 3-D modeling. Knowledge and experience with CAD programs a plus.
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or extensive design experience
- Minimum 2 years graphic design experience, preferably within a consumer products company
- Must possess creative and innovative sketching, design and conceptualization skills
- Must have strong photography skills with an outstanding visual style
- Self disciplined and self-directed with the ability to manage multiple projects and be able to take creative direction well
- Have the proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment both individually and as part of the team
- Ideal candidates will have a strong organizational sense with an attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and strategize solutions under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in PC & Mac System, Adobe Creative Suite, and entire Microsoft Office package: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Access, HTML language
- Experience in designing , POP programs, web layouts with and understanding of digital formats such as TIFF, JPEG, PDF, Etc.
- Dreamweaver, Flash and digital image manipulation helpful!
- Appropriate certification and/or affiliation with packaging industry organizations, such as CPIT or CPP (Certified Packaging Professional), a plus!

Senior Artist, Characters

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Netherrealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Senior Character Artist who will be responsible for creating character assets of the highest quality. This person will work closely with the Lead Character Artist along with the Art Director to create and maintain the highest quality assets for the game, and ensure that the aesthetic goals are met.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Using industry standard 3D packages as well as proprietary Team tools, creates art assets for their assigned development project. These assets could include any skeletal models, along with weapons, props, and other character related assets.

  • Support design in creating high end content to promote game-play.

  • Ensure that the high-quality bar established by the Art Director and Lead Artist is maintained by themselves and their team.

  • Mentors more junior members of the character team and shares acquired knowledge with the group.

  • Participates in departmental meetings to share personal ideas and define the look and feel of characters.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • At Least a 2-year 2D/3D art degree, architecture degree, or equivalent.

  • BFA is preferred.

  • Five or more years of art and design experience on previous video game development teams.

  • Involved in production on at least 1 title that has been previously released.

  • Must possess good artistic skills and a working knowledge of 2D/3D art production.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Rigging experience not required, but a plus.

  • Additional art skills are preferred: fine arts skills, including drawing and painting; traditional sculpting; strong figure drawing skills that demonstrate a deep understanding of human anatomy and proportion.

    Installation Opportunity at Chicago Art District showPODs

    Aart installation opportunity for Chicago artists at the Chicago Arts District. We have 7 street front window spaces available as interconnected  'showPODs' (each approximately 16' wide and 6' feet deep) that display installation art and feature a new project each month. Installations should fill all 7 spaces and interconnect them. These showPODs are to be viewed from the sidewalk and get tons of viewing traffic in the diverse and historic Pilsen East Chicago Arts District.     Teaching Artist Development Consultant - Center for Community Arts Partnership


    This part time position will be working in the Center for Community Arts Partnerships at Columbia College Chicago. The consultant will be support staff for a one-year pilot project that will create and test a systematic teaching artist training program that will serve the arts education field in Chicago.  The consultant’s responsibilities outlined below will be handled within the allocated 20 hours per week and will be reporting to the Associate Director of School Partnerships/Project AIM (who serves as project manager) and the Director of School Partnerships.

    The consultant will support three aspects of this project: the Design Cycle, Colloquium Series and the Professional Learning Community. The responsibilities are: 

    • Work closely with the Associate Director of School Partnerships to build relationships with organizations and individual artists in recruiting Cohort 1 for fall 2011 and Cohort 2 for winter 2012. 
    • Provide general information and awareness of the project through social networks, email functions and traditional marketing approaches 
    • Correspond in a timely manner with Design Cycle Faculty and cohort participants through email and hard copy to ensure program timeline is met 
    • Coordinate the logistics of the cohort meetings that will take place on Columbia College Chicago’s campus and help to generate the requested materials needed by the Cohort faculty for both sessions 
    • Support the development of project documentation for grant reports such as attendance records of cohorts, participant responses to program activities, collection of program activities through photo and video 
    • Coordinate logistics of two evening events (one in fall and one in winter) that comprise the “Colloquium Series” that will present key topics to a larger cross section of the teaching artist community in Chicago. 
    • Support the development of an online professional learning community among the cohort faculty and participants through the maintenance of a blog and website page 
    • Work with the Associate Director of School Partnerships to convene the TAD Advisory Committee that two times a year for updates and input on the progress of the Teaching Artists Development Studio 
    • Provide administrative support to the TAD Project Evaluator including the collection of key data.

    Job Summary:
    We are currently seeking a highly motivated Product Development Manager to join our Holiday team!  This individual will be responsible for assisting the Holiday Product Development team in the research and development of new product concepts, as well as development and management of backends or existing programs. The Product Development Manager will creatively brainstorm and concept new ideas that fit within established Bradford product criteria and formats, and will effectively solve issues and problems related to design, production scheduling and costs.  This individual will also manage administrative functions of the department, including tracking, scheduling and updating reports and product programs. 

    Responsibilities

    ·         Update product development database (File Maker Pro) to include critical products reports, rolling forecasts, fact sheets, design worksheets and contract requests, with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness as it relates to status on products and product research.
    ·         Communicate and effectively collaborate with various departments such as Advertising, Design, Production, and Marketing who are integral to the product development process.  Identify delays and inconsistencies and notify appropriate Senior Product Development Manager for resolution.
    ·         Coordinate backstamp process – supply Design department with worksheets and Marketing with approved fact sheets. Proof, route and finalize approval on backstamps, hang tags and certificates and advise Production and Design teams.
    ·         Prepare presentation boards, sample set-ups and kick-off packets for meetings and presentations, such as Quarterly Reviews, European, and Sales meetings.
    ·         Research past Bradford product to analyze degree of success in market research and product research. Track conversion rates, historical data, source color proofs, transparencies and brochures for art reuse evaluation.
    ·         Maintain and manage backend products (initially with guidance from Senior Product Development Manager) with emphasis on the design quality and series cohesion with a backend cadence of 30 days or less. Coordinate and manage through design, sculpt, decal proofing and manufacturing processes to include preparation of design worksheet, fact sheet, approvals, product reporting, backstamps and hang tags. Responsible for program scheduling and target dates.
    ·         Print and critique JPEG photos of products in development, pre-production samples and production samples, including backstamps and certificates.
    ·         Participate in concepting and brainstorming with Product Development team, and develop and present concepts and ideas for new products to managers. Develop new product concept for tests at weekly VIP meetings (under supervision of Senior Product Development Manager, if applicable) - this includes the concept, research, mockup/sketches, worksheet/statements and data on trends, competitive and related industries, prior test/rollout results, preliminary costs/margin estimates and other required materials.
    ·         Ensure quote packages are sent out to appropriate vendors using corporate COG’s (cost of goods) guidelines. Work with vendors and Senior Product Development Manager to negotiate and finalize COG’s.
    ·         Work with outside resources such as designers, sculptors, model shops and licensors on new concepts and information and material required to complete product development process.
    ·         Communicate and direct outside sketch artists, illustrators, sculptors, painters, mold makers and manufacturers.
    ·         Expand design pool (designers, sketch artists, sculptors, painters, etc) by proactively seeking out new talent to assist in delivering quality and reliable resources for the product development team.
    ·         Responsible for black & white color copying; digital photography samples and products; review and approve invoices and send to Accounting for processing.
    ·         Prepare packages for shipment via DHL, Fed Ex and messenger; faxing (domestic and international), scanning, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.



    Qualifications
    ·         MA, MFA, BA or BFA degree in Art, Art History, Fine/Studio Arts, Illustration, Product Design, Sculpture, Graphic Design or an art-related field
    ·         0-3years work experience
    ·         Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills – both verbal and written 
    ·         Must be organized and must be very detail-oriented
    ·         Knowledge of MAC/PC including Excel, Word, PhotoShop
    ·         Ability to work and troubleshoot in an extremely fast-paced environment
    ·         Strong internship experience or a minimum of two years work experience is preferred 
    ·         Experience in a clerical and/or art and craft environment is a major plus 
    ·         Artistic/creative skills
    ·         Familiarity with Adobe suite and databases is helpful

    Part-Time Kids Art Teacher

    If you love working with children and love art this is the perfect part-time position for you. Our after-school drawing program is in need of part-time teachers (3-5 hours per week) to work in the far north suburbs - Antioch, Lake Villa, Lindenhurst, Round Lake, Grayslake,Vernon Hills.
    Young Rembrandts offers drawing classes for children ages 3 1/2 to 12 years old. Classes are scheduled all over west Lake County Illinois at park districts, preschools and elementary schools and are either 45 minutes or 1 hour long.
    We are looking for mature, responsible people to teach our childrens' drawing classes. You need NOT be a certified teacher and no degree is required - just love childern and art. You must be available between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM because that is the time period in which we run most of our classes. You must be available 2 to 4 afternoons per week, have reliable transportation and enjoy and HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE working with children. We provide the training, lesson plans, supplies and location. This is VERY LIGHT part-time work and since the classes are only one hour long it only works well for people who live in the area.
    We are interviewing and training NOW for teachers to start in the fall.
    Pay rate is $16.50 to $18 per one hour class depending on previous experience.

    SENIOR ARTIST, CHARACTERS



    Netherrealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Senior Character Artist who will be responsible for creating character assets of the highest quality. This person will work closely with the Lead Character Artist along with the Art Director to create and maintain the highest quality assets for the game, and ensure that the aesthetic goals are met.
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    ·  Using industry standard 3D packages as well as proprietary Team tools, creates art assets for their assigned development project. These assets could include any skeletal models, along with weapons, props, and other character related assets.

    ·  Must possess good artistic skills and a working knowledge of 2D/3D art production.
