FadingRed was founded in 2009 by two passionate techies who left uninspiring jobs to found a company with a strange name.
Our goal was simple: to create an environment where people love what they do and have fun every day. Our small, close-knit, and energetic team creates delightful apps for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad platforms. We have high standards and believe in creating technology products that are simple, attractive, and functional for people.

What’s the Gig?

We're looking for a versatile and energetic designer to take the lead on creating exceptional design for our continuously evolving software products.
You'll have the opportunity to contribute to awesome software while applying your knowledge of design principles. You will be expected to adapt to the intricacies of designing for various devices including but not limited to desktop, mobile, and web.

What We Look For

In a different life you would have been a hacker because you're curious about technology, but in this life you love being a painter and wouldn't trade it for anything!
Your co-workers would describe you as a perfectionist with an acute attention to detail. You have a desire to make work fun, enjoyable and challenging. You're self motivated and are constantly thinking about ways to improve. You're opinionated, but also love collaboration and teamwork. You're skilled at expressing your ideas clearly and confidently.
And since we're a software shop, there's never a shortage of code writing that needs to be done. The idea of getting your hands dirty in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript should excite you (though experience is not required).
Specific qualities we look for:
• Ability to create graphics for any medium we throw at you
• Experience designing ingenious icons, websites, and awesome user interfaces
• Ability to write and explain ideas clearly to anyone (i.e. my crazy grandma)
• We work with Macs everyday, so we’d like to know that you do too
• Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator or other tools that get your creativity flowing
• Skilled understanding of color, space and typography
• Willingness to soak up new ideas and grow to meet adventures head-on
• Flexibility and versatility in a dynamic work environment
• Rockin' portfolio and a bachelor's degree
Other ways to captivate us:
• Background in Javascript, CSS, and/or HTML
• Understanding of web standards and current trends
• Programming experience is a huge plus

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?
-----------------------------------------------------------
In the rapidly changing world of software, there is no such thing as a typical day. Expect the unexpected!
One day you'll be working on creating a new graphic; the next you may be architecting a different application's user experience. You'll spend time brainstorming with our developers, evaluating the pros and cons of different design approaches. You will learn to use tools to create interfaces, bridging the gap between concept and implementation.
